Ravindra Jadeja on Thursday celebrated his 23rd Test fifty with his famous sword celebration on Day 2 of the second Test played between India and England at Edgbaston.

Jadeja had made 104 at Edgbaston in 2022 and also had half-centuries on earlier visits to Trent Bridge and The Oval.

He brought up his 50 with a whisk off the pads from Chris Woakes’ bowling.

Jadeja has forged a century partnership with captain Shubman Gill .

India were in a spot of bother at 211 for five, but veteran Ravindra Jadeja once again showed his true value as a batter in SENA countries .

Former pacer Varun Aaron lauded all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s vital contribution, which was filled with intent and a positive scoring approach.

“I thought Jaddu’s body language was brilliant. From ball one, he was looking to rotate the strike, show intent, and stay mobile at the crease,” Aaron said on JioHotstar.

“He didn’t just try to grind it out ball after ball — he was actively looking to make things happen. What stood out was how he approached Bashir. Normally, he’d play him cautiously, but today he took calculated risks — and that’s what mattered.

“He made sure the scoreboard kept moving. By the final session, India were scoring close to four runs an over — and that’s exactly where you want to be. As Ravindra Jadeja, when you’re guiding the lower order, you want to be solid but also bring some aggression.”
